It should come as no surprise to learn that riding a motorcycle is one of the most dangerous forms of transportation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that between 2001 and 2008, 34,000 motorcycle riders were killed in the U.S. On top of that, 1.2 million motorcycle riders ended up in the emergency room. When motorists are on the road, they often fail to remember that they are sharing the road with more than just cars, but motorcyclists and bicyclists too.
In Marietta this past Monday night, a motorcyclist was killed while driving his 1987 Honda Hurricane. Forty-eight-year-old T.M. was driving on Shaw Road when he crossed the middle line and was hit by a gray Mitsubishi. After colliding with the car, T.M. was thrown from his bike and collided with a brick mailbox. By the time emergency personnel were able to get to the scene, T.M had already passed away. Another car was also involved in the accident, but no passengers in the two vehicles were injured. The police are now looking for anyone who might have information regarding the crash and why is happened.
