In a recent case in Marietta, three lanes of Interstate 75 southbound have been completely closed. On Thursday afternoon, a woman was driving a pickup truck when she came across a kayak in the middle of the road. Apparently, a car had driven past earlier with two kayaks strapped to the vehicle. One of the kayaks fell off and was left lying in the middle of the lane. When the woman came across the kayak, she swerved to avoid it. The sudden swerve caused the woman to lose control of her vehicle. As a result, her pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler truck. She was taken to the hospital, but the driver of the truck was not injured. The authorities stated that there will most likely be charges filed against the individuals who left the kayak in the middle of the freeway.
The type of accident which occurred in this case was a T-bone collision. A T-bone collision is a type of side collision which involves one vehicle crashing into the side of another vehicle at a ninety degree angle. In this particular situation, the 18-wheeler crashed into the side of her truck and pushed her against the guardrail. Three of the lanes were temporarily closed and an investigation is underway.
